Architecture Beyond Boundaries

Four terraces cut into the hillside, each turned a few degrees further toward the water, so the house reads as one gesture from the sea and as four rooms from the path.

A single span of board-marked concrete carries the roof, which let every wall beneath it become glass. The pavilion is emptier than the brief asked for, and better for it.

Built for forty degrees in the shade. Deep reveals, a shaded court at the centre, and stone quarried within sixty kilometres of the site do the work mechanical cooling would have.

A courtyard plan learned from the medina next door: rammed earth walls, a long pool on the axis, and rooms that borrow their light from the sky rather than the street.
